In May 2020, I photographed the timeless VDL house in Silver Lake, a neighborhood of Los Angeles, with the help of its new director, Noam Saragosti. .
The original house was built in 1932 by famed American architect Richard Neutra (it burned down in 1963 and was rebuilt, with some improvements). The structure was Neutra’s family home and studio for about three decades.
The materials used are simply concrete, steel and glass. Though the house is impressive and very cool, it actually wasn’t expensive to build, the resources used were designed with less affluent clients in mind.
